About

Born and raised in the Scottish Highlands, Dave grew up surrounded by fiddle music and the Scottish traditional music scene. It was this love of traditional and folk music that led Dave to a career in violin making. After studying Classical Musical Instrument Technology in Glasgow he progressed to the Newark International School of Violin Making. Here he acquired a deep understanding of Violin Making traditions and techniques.

Soon after graduating Dave became a member of the British Violin Making Association and established his workshop in the Highlands where he has since completed numerous commissions for musicians. He also frequently completes instrument repairs.

Dave’s instruments are inspired by the traditions of the Cremonese School of violin making with a Highland influence to their design and sound.
